Top 3 Reasons to Visit Vancouver
Vancouver in October is probably one of the most gorgeous spots I’ve ever experienced. There was a definite nip in the air, but the type that refreshes the soul. In all transparency, we traveled to Vancouver for a concert – Beyonce and Jay-Z’s OTR II Tour to be exact – so I’m not sure we would have traveled here otherwise but I am so glad we had the excuse to do so. Although reasons to visit Vancouver are numerous, here are my top 3.
Nature Scene
If there is one thing Vancouver is rich in, it’s nature. Now, we did not end up doing the Capilano Suspension Bridge, but we did explore many of the parks and seaside walkways that line Vancouver. We walked along False Creek, checked out the Vancouver Seawall, and spent quite a bit of time exploring VanDusen Gardens. The trees in the Gardens were incredible and we had such an interesting time discovering all of the plant and wildlife the area had to offer.
Foodie Scene
Highly, highly recommend any and all seafood in the Vancouver area! Vancouver definitely has Asian roots and because of that Asian food here is prevalent. We stopped at a Korean restaurant in the downtown area and had the BEST spicy ribs with melted cheese I’ve ever had in my life. We also made time to grab a few drinks – Big Rock Brewery and Eatery (unfortunately now closed), Vancouver Island Brewery, Parkside Brewery, Parallel 49 Brewing, & Faculty Brewing - to name a few! All had delicious beer options and we definitely indulged a bit!
Being interested in the different foods also brought us into Gastown. We first admired the Gastown Steam Clock and then wandered through the entire area. There is an abundance of dining options and varying bars to choose from as well! We grabbed a drink at Steamworks Brewpub and ate a few oysters at Rodney’s Oyster House.
Entertainment
Remember that OTR II concert? We headed off to BC Place for a great night of entertainment. And it was GREAT. I mean, is there a better duo then the King and Queen of America? They slayyyyed this concert and honestly I was having too great of a time to be bothered to take pictures or videos!
Not only did we attend a concert, but we also made it to a Vancouver Canucks game at Rogers Arena! Spoiler alert: this was not on my original itinerary, but my husband is a HUGE hockey fan and very sheepishly asked if we could possibly do something on this trip that he was interested in, so I obliged. And I’ll be honest, I had a great time! The stadium was super easy to get around; we walked in and they handed us FREE beer (when in Canada, eh?) and overall it was a very fun game to watch.
If you’re looking for a unique place to experience nature and food and entertainment options, Vancouver is your place! Grab your passport and your Nike’s and get your butt out the door!
Until next time,
