Chicago for First Timers
Being from Wisconsin, I always forget what a large and sought-after city Chicago is! From its beautiful architecture, to the foodie scene, to the picturesque beaches, Chicago has so much to offer and is a without a doubt a prime destination for Go With Katie!
WHERE TO STAY
Chicago has so many neighborhoods and hotels it’s hard to choose the best place to be! Here are my recommendations to maximize ease of travel around the city:
The Loop (most central): Hyatt Regency Chicago, River Hotel, LondonHouse Chicago
River North: Hotel Felix, Home2Suites by Hilton River North
Lincoln Park: Villa D' Citta Bed & Breakfast, Hotel Lincoln
For more hotel information and where to stay, check out this blog post!
What to do
Stroll along the city’s Riverwalk.
Ride the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier for some of the best views of the city skyline.
Explore Navy Pier - so many shops and photo opportunities!
See a comedy show at Second City - but make sure you buy tickets ahead of time!
Take photo’s in the women’s bathroom of the John Hancock Building (probably for women only lol). I’m convinced that bathroom has some of the best views of Chicago.
Marvel at The Bean. Arrive early if you want a photo with *slightly less* people.
Visit the Lincoln Park Zoo - it’s free!
Catch a Blackhawks game (hockey), a Cubs game (baseball), a Bears game (football), a Bulls game (basketball), or a White Sox game (baseball)! So many sports, so little time.
Visit North Ave Beach or Oak Street Beach. Grab your swimsuit and beware the chilly waters of Lake Michigan!
WHere to Eat & Drink
Grab a drink at the top of the John Hancock Building. It will definitely make you feel bougie :)
Have a beer at Goose Island Brewing Company. Cheers!
Visit Off Color Brewing or Crushed by Giants Brewing.
Grab some Italian at Il Porcellino.
Munch on a donut from Stan’s.
Wake up to brunch at Yolk - Streeterville.
Enjoy a cocktail at Arbella.
Have lunch at Sweetwater Tavern or Eataly.
Until next time,
